Why all these birds on a single page? Why not!? The "Empids" are a classical ID challenge for birders, as many
species are only identifiable with close looks or when calling, with overlap in field marks between some species.
Still, many individuals can be readily identified even when not calling. Hopefully I'll accumulate a nice collection
of various empids below, but for now, enjoy the few that are there! (I'll work on posting recordings too... someday!)


"Trail's" Flycatcher (Willow or Alder)

This first bird was seen at Pine Ridge Natural Area on 6 June 2008. By location, probably Willow Flycatcher.







Yellow-bellied Flycatcher

This first bird (3 photos) was seen and heard in the Hawthorn Orchards near East Hill Plaza, Ithaca, NY.
