Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

This is one of two birds that attempted to nest at the corner of
Blackforest Rd. and Woodman in Colorado Springs, CO in the late 90s
(I forget which year at the moment!). I believe the female was
found dead on her nest during that season, presumably following
an afternoon thunderstorm in the area.

Update: According to the CBRC records reported in vol. 35, no. 1 of the JCFO (pg. 31):
For the third year in a row, this species was seen at a location
between Colorado Springs and Black Forest (El Paso Co.) This year,
a pair was seen beginning 6/10/99, building and then sitting on a
nest. However, the female was found dead on [Monday] 6/28/99. The
male remained in the area through at least 7/18/99.
